Leadership is about
working through people. To work through people effectively leader must receive cooperation
and support from people. To receive support
and cooperation a leader must consistently communicate and demonstrate that
people important. When people know they are important and valued they will
support and cooperate with the leader to achieve great business results.
A
survey highlights there are the top three Human Resources
mistakes that every CEO makes?” 1) 64% – CEOs don’t recognize
what truly motivates employees; 2) 41% – CEOs fail to lead by example in
key HR initiatives; 3) 32% – CEOs don’t make company culture a
priority.
These mistakes send out a
message: you / People are not that important to me. So, how you will send
out the message that people are very important? For that a leader must
understand and recognize what motivates people. Get curious, Ask and be willing
to hear things that differ from what’s motivating to you as a leader, or from
what you think ought to be motivating to them. Talk to your HR people, if
they’re good and you respect them about what’s most meaningful to people, and
how you can incorporate that into your reward systems.
Communicate and
demonstrate clear message that people are important and they are valued,
understand what motivates; this will help to get their support and cooperation to work through
people effectively.
